because that's what people know from Sega and thus what sells. The other IPs where to push their Hardware, being that consoles or arcade cabinets

That's also the reason why I consider Nintendo going third party to be the worst that could happen. Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Pokemon and once in a while some different game from them? No thanks

But who really gives a shit about Sonic nowadays anyways? It doesn't sell like it use to.

And I don't buy that. Those IPs have their followings that will support new games.
