I would like to know which component is holding them back. I don't think it's the Tegra, Nvidia planned them to be used on all mobile devices but basically only Switch uses it. I'm leaning to think it's either the screen (JDI makes it) or the flash memory (competing with all smart devices for some chips).

Right now it's not components that are holding them back, but the contracts they signed last year. Volume of production can't be increased on the fly. Sony wasn't able to react to stronger than expected PS4 Pro demand either, that's why supply has gotten better only recently. Nintendo prepared for increased in production in late January and it takes several months until that can take effect.

But a component shortage is absolutely holding them back. They're unable to request more because there isn't enough to go around, and they'd be outbid on any surplus supply that did exist. If NAND was easier to find, they'd be able to increase production at a much higher rate.

I understand what you're trying to say about contracted amounts they agreed upon to receive; however if there wasn't a shortage, they'd be able to purchase more.
