Agree with this. I was one of the people who jumped on board with Fire Emblem at Awakening. It was a combination of getting familliar with the characters through Smash and a ton of positive reviews for Awakening. I'm also this way for Metroid. I'd never really played a Metroid game until I played Super Metroid a few years ago. Samus Returns will be a day one purchase for me. Sometimes, franchises bloom late. |
Yeah I'm not really sure if Metroid is ever gonna be a big thing, there's late blooming and then there's blooming in your 60s/70s, Metroid is a very old franchise by now. It kinda is what it is, the truth is I think the type of gameplay it has (solitary, low action, exploration based) just doesn't really lend itself to a big audience.
Even the film franchise its inspired by (Alien) has always been a box office light weight compared to something like Star Wars, which is more of a crowd pleaser.
