So the Metroid fanbase is one of the most insular, intolerant, socially inept, circle-jerking groups in all of gaming... because they have different tastes? Wow, that is truly a horrible thing to have.

As for Super Metroid, it really is Jesus, and no I wasn't there for the dawn of it, I played it for the first time in 2014 and it holds up so well it hardly felt like I was playing a 20-year old game at all.

I hope he never finds out about the Zelda or Fire Emblem fanbases if he thinks Metroid fans are intolerant of opinions. Probably go into shock as soon as he opens up a Skyward Sword or Fates related thread.

I hope you never find out that the Zelda fanbase can at least tolerate the idea of another game not named Linked to the Past being in the master class or being considered GOAT, unlike Metroid's. Oh wait, you just did.

I also hope you never perfectly illustrate my point by taking a fellow Metroid fan to task just for having a preference for other games in the series and a differing opinion.... Oh crap, you did just that, didn't you?

Awful taste? I would argue that at the time of their releases Metroid was the best console game available (challenged only by Super Mario Bros.), and Metroid 2 was the best handheld game available.

The same can certainly not be argued for any of the future Metroids.

The consistent placing of Super Metroid and Metroid Prime near the top of numerous Best Games of All Time lists would beg to differ.

My point is that your argument that it "certainly cannot be argued that any of the future Metroids" were the best console/handheld games avaliable is flat out wrong considering how many people have done just that. You're welcome to not like SM/Prime/whatever else if you don't want, but the notion that people can't argue that they were best games around at the time is more than a touch ridiculous.

My point is to argue against the claim that I had terrible taste for being much more into Metroid and Metroid 2 than the later Metroid sequels and spinoffs.

I'm starting to notice that you two like to tag team all over anyone who has a different opinon than yours...
