You don't get it. It's not about not being on a Nintendo platform. It's about Capcom's own interest. MH sells MUCH better on handheld devices, and as such, a Switch version, especially after seeing how much of a wanted device it is. Back when MH3 jumped ship to Wii and 3DS, there were sound reasons to do so. Market share. Money. Basically it is what has kept Capcom afloat for the past years. When they see sales struggle to reach 1m in Japan, they'll come back begging to Nintendo (maybe that's the reason they named it MHW instead of MH5, so they could backtrack if things go bad - also the reason Ninty claims Switch is a console; should it fail, they could just introduce a 3DS successor and say JUST KIDDING). |
i don't think sales will struggle to hit 1m in Japan, and as they have said, this game is an attempt to get bigger in the west, and for that, you need PS4 more than you need the other two combined. As for Capcom's interest, I don't believe most people care, and if they struggle in the future it won't be because of Monster Hunter World not being on Switch.
