I can't blame them. If I where a 3rd party developer making a game for a Nintendo platform I'd love to have some Nintendo items in it.

And I don't see the big deal as long as the actual games are good. It's a nice addition for fans and if you don't like it you always have the option to ignore that content. I can imagine quite a few gamers wanting to do a Skyrim run roleplaying as Link or perhaps doing all of that stuff that Link never gets to do in Legend of Zelda.

That's a fair point I suppose. Personally I would prefer them to spend the resources on other stuff though.
