Soundwave asked if you were the person who said consoles with multiple hardware configurations wouldnt happen.

I replied saying that you were that person.

A little back and forth exchange happened about whether or not you said that.

A few posts later you admitted to saying that and listed off reasons why you said that.

My last post is saying it doesnt matter if your reasons are good, a wrong prediction is a wrong prediction.

 

Basically this entire exchange happened because you got offended that i answered a question about you for Soudwave. Please explain how im coming off as being victorious or acting like i never have made poor predictions?

Again, you're twisting my argument that I didn;t think Sony would release a PS4 with additional performance into responding that I was the guy that said "a Nintendo system with multiple performance modes was never, ever going to happen because programmers would not be able to optimize their games (ditto for a PS4 Pro and Scorpio)?"

First of all, that sentence doesn't make any sense because the PS4 Pro/Scorpio and the Switch haven't implemented the same solution at all - so it's not "ditto" between one and the other and I have never treated them as the same.  Sony's solution is two different hardware specifications on two different, seperate devices. Nintendo's solution is two different operating modes on the same device. Hardware specifications and operating modes are two completely different things. The two might seem similar but from a game development point of view are dramatically different problems to solve. Some how Soundwave mangled it all up into one argument against both platforms for wrong reasons.

Let's be clear. I have never claimed anything that Soundwave asked if I claimed.

I never said "a Nintendo system with multiple performance modes was never going to happen". I said a Nintendo system with different hardware configurations and different control schemes was never going to happen. There is a vast difference between the two, and the one I said would never happen still has not happened. The PSP technically has had multiple performance modes. I have personally set the clock rate in my modded PSP. So has other Nintendo handhelds in the past. It makes no sense whatsoever for me to claim such a thing, and that's because I didn't.

I also have never said  programmers would not be able to optimize their games" for any reason for any platform, ever. I did however, say that developers couldn't optimize their games as well on PS4/Xbox if they had to support multiple specifications vs just supporting the base consoles since decision trees about hardware specifcations would need to be littered throughout the engine where none had previously existed that would not only bloat it's memory footprint but slow down the rate at which it could process game data . This is verifiably true. All PS4 games that support the PS4 pro in any way run a little bit worse on the PS4 as a result. Again, this is a fact. Don't take my word for it. I thought if Sony were to make such a console, they would force developers to make use of the additional hardware by doing things like requiring developers to reach certain performance objectives like a minimum framerate or resolution (among other possible things), since hey, if the'yre making a more powerful PS4, they should want this thing to run all PS4 games noticably better than it's regular PS4 counterpart. This would undoubtedly have been weeks of man hours of extra work. However, since Sony essentially just allowed developers to effectvely treat the PS4 Pro like a PS4, and the PS4 Pro was built in such a way that it could effectively emulate the operating mode of the PS4, many of my concerns for such a console were solved - at the cost of releasing a beefed up console that effectively operates as a regular PS4 for most games both old and new, making it kinda pointless to begin with.

My bad on falsely assuming that they would actually require devs use that additional power, even though I was actually right on why they didn't.

Now you're trying to shove something I was techncially wrong about in my face for reasons that actually have nothing to do with what Soundwave asked me if I said as if that proves a point over what I did or didn't say. Soundwave fucked up. You decided to double down on it, and now it appears you're trying to double down again. Enough is enough. You're uncategorically wrong about what I said. Full stop. Now just let it go and move on.
