The gifs I posted are MH Generations (not even MHXX) which only has a 3DS version I didn't mention the switch at all so all those gifs are MHGen, the shadows are still better than Shenmue's which in a number of cases doesn't even give characters outside of Ryo shadows at all.

MH 3DS doesn't draw many shadows either, and the ones it does are lower quality than Shenmue's, just like its resolution and textures.
