Smash 4 was great, so making a quick and easy port fixes the system's lack of Smash while opening up a lot of space for developers to make other games (say Smash 4 Deluxe comes out this holiday - if it wasn't a port, Nintendo wouldn't ever have the firepower to deliver Smash and a new 3D Mario on the same season). |
They don't need to. And no one is going to accept a port and new Mario as the same thing as having two new games. There is such a different in having a new Smash Bros. and giving us the same game we already played.
