I don't see this game doing poorly. It will clear 1M Week 1 easily.
The real question is whether or not its sales will be killed by Splatoon 2. Personally, I am a much bigger fan of ARMS so far. I think ARMS will sell over 5M before the end of 2018, and it has a high potential to do 10M+ lifetime. It's really about how Splatoon 2 does, that's its competition, and Splatoon has the advantage of an existing fanbase which means it could win even if ARMS is the better game.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
