I also get that I can just ignore them if I don't like them. Though why is it that other people can't be like that on the opposite side? Is anything lost by not having achievements in a game? An optional feature you choose to turn off > a missing feature you had no choice in enabling or not. People like challenges and bragging rights. You don't need achievements to have challenges, but they create a more tangible and trackable record of your gaming accomplishments as well as additional goals to strive for in your playtime.
