You really dont have replacement for Switch (hybrid hardware), Zelda BotW, MK8D and local multiplayer (at home or at go) right out of box, cheaper tablets and PS4 don't offer that, so most people who cant find now will buy one later when its availible. Also its not like Switch is 1st console that has stock shortages, Wii and PS4 also had them, but of course that Nintendo need to solve shortages most sooner they can.

For less discerning shoppers a cheap tablet or a PS4 will fill in just fine, especially if its a parent buying for their kid. A lot of people if they can't get what they wanted will buy a substitute instead of going home empty handed and trying again later.
