You are right. If it doesn't at least do 80 million, it will be a failure just like PS4 and Xbox One. Both of them have failed to beat the previous generation sales and seem  highly unlikely to do so.

PS2: 155+ million
PS3+PSP: 166+ million
PS4+Vita: 75.5 million

360: 84+ million
One: 29.2 million

PS4 and/or Vita need another 85 million (give or take) to avoid failure
. Xbox One needs at least another 55 million.

Consoles are clearly dying.

Not really. Aside from the fact that the whole "must beat predecessor" concept is flawed in the first place... the PS4 only needs to beat the PS3. The Vita is the PSP successor, and is a definite failure. But the Vita being a failure doesn't transfer over to the PS4.

Not according to the logic employed in the original forum post. Sony is selling less hardware = failure. Consoles are dying. Ask the OT. It's his arguments, not mine. I merely apply the logic.

And going from 150 million hardware on average in the past two gens, to levels so far lower than PlayStation, is a regression no matter how you put it.

Switch will cannibalize Nintendo's distinct handheld and house console hardware sales. Sony can't seem to find a way to match their two previous generations. Microsoft will struggle to even reach 2/3rds of the 360 -- which lost to both Wii and PS3. Dedicated gaming is on the wane. Ask the OT.
