Of course. Making great content does matter. But since the 64 and Gamecube developers and subsequently, audiences have ditched Nintendo platforms and the damage has been done as far as I'm concerned. The same with Final Fantasy VII. Once they jumped from 64 because it didn't fit their vision, the fans went with it and haven't returned since. I think that's the time period and following the 64, that gamers started to shift and 3rd party games didn't stack up against even Nintendo's lower profile IP. |
Well yeah, you're not gonna sell much on Switch if you throw out a game people already played on their Playstation or Xbox, but if you offer an appealing, high quality new game that just happens to be third party and M-rated, I don't think the latter traits would automatically doom it.
