3m in 2017 seems reasonable. Of course, if Switch sells over 10m units of hardware in 2017, there's a good chance that MK8 Deluxe will do more.

Lifetime: 7.5m. This won't have the same legs as other Mario Karts, because I expect Mario Kart 9 to land in 2018 and become the primary choice for everyone who has yet to buy a Mario Kart title for Switch.

i dont think MK9 will release that soon, the Software Group that works on Mario Kart also has ARMS releasing this year and looking at their software output makes me believe they do not have the ability to work 2 full size HD games and an updated port at once.

2005-Nintendogs & Mario Kart DS

2008-Mario Kart Wii & Nintendo DSi Sound

2011-Nintendogs+Cats & Mario Kart 7

2014-Mario Kart 8+DLC

2017-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe+ARMS

It seems as though they can either work on one big & one small project or two medium sized projects at once. I dont expect to see MK9 until 2019 at the earliest.
