You have several Japanese live action adaptation. 2 main movies, 1 spin-off movie and a mini TV series. I've seen the 2 main movies, they're pretty good for live action movies and have been well received. The third movie is known as a bad one, so I never watched it. I don't know the mini series.

I highly doubt that the Netflix movie will be a 8+ movie...

Well, ofc not. That won't happen regardless of its quality. 

1. People will actually watch it.

2. It's going to be drastically different the original so people will go into it wanting it to fail.
