More modern tech doesn't mean a lot if it doesn't have the power to really push beyond what Wii U is doing. Granted its doing Wii U content at higher resolutions. For example, if you bu a new low end card, it can do the modern effects but not particularly well. I expect a lot of Switch content to be in the realm of Wii U's capabilities.

Very curious to see Mario Odyssey, that should demonstrate what the hardware can really do. Even more so than Breath of the Wild.

Actually modern tech is very important because that basically means Switch can do almost everything like XB1 for instance but downgraded. You do realise that Wii U didnt not supported UE4 and most of other common engines on market, same like most common tools and APIs, and those are things that make huge difference compared to Wii U beacuse Switch suport all of them, and that's why we having devs saying that "Switch is light years ahead of Wii U".

Agree, I think that Mario Odyssey will be actualy first full Switch game, Zelda BotW, MK8, ARMS, Splatoon2 are Wii U ports or they using assets and graphics of already existed Wii U games. But fact that Switch runing MK8 at 1080p/60FPS thats one of best loking Nintendo game, and Fast RMX at 1080p/60fps with better visuals and frame rate thats one of best tehnicaly most advanced Wii U game, is pretty impresive.

A console doesn't necessarily need modern tech or capabilities to support an engine. I mean there are older video cards that can run UE4 games.

Hey, they got the CoD engine on Wii. It looks like shit but they did it.
