For me, it's the best game I've ever played, by far. I am actually actively avoiding progressing the story just to spend more time doing random exploration, hunting and fighting.

I've always loved the Zelda series, but I felt that with Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword the series had stagnated and it was losing some of it's magic, even tho they were still really good games.

BotW just completely upends the tea table, as Miyamoto would put it. Nintendo was not afraid to throw away most of the old gameplay mechanics and many of the conventions of the series; which has made it in to a much better game.

I was worried that the nonlinearity would be superficial and not really there, but more like a hidden linearity, but after playing for 30 hours I can truly say that is not the case, you really can go do anything you like at almost any time.

Almost all puzzles I've encountered can be solved in multiple ways, because there is no scripted events, only a physics engine, which doesn't put any artificial restrictions on you.

The mood is amazing, the sense of freedom and adventure from Zelda 1 has been recaptured.

My main concern now is how is Nintendo going to take the Zelda franchise further from this point?
