I think some of the battery life stuff is overblown anyway too.
Who has more than 3 hours away from home/on the road to sit there and play video games uniterrupted.
Even as a kid, between recess and having a social life (as in friends) I played my Game Boy maybe 1-2 hours max outside of the house a day.
Of course people are going to say "well what about on a plane/long car ride" .... well most planes/long distance trains offer USB outlets these days and even full blow plug in outlets on top of that.
The system is portable enough with the Joycons removed as well, you're going to have to put even a 3DS or Vita in a jacket pocket or something, unless you're *that* one guy who carries around his 3DS instead of his wallet/keys/smartphone.
And you can always buy a battery charger on top of that.
You just need to take the 5 seconds to dock the system when you get home to make sure its fully charged when you head out, but that's really not a bad deal.
People acting like it's this huge, massive device that has its battery run out in like 20 minutes are really exagerrating, it's very functional as a portable and will be more functional in the future as well with a die shrink they'll be able to increase battery life.
