The first publicly available numbers were the UK, where it did sell poorly. After that, people just have anecdotes. It's not hard to find at all in the US, so it just balloons into the idea that isn't not selling well.

~80k is bad for a launch week period. If the Wii U ever becomes an actual comparison, then you know that the Switch is a collossal failure. I don't think the bar is that low.

That's when we start talking about what it should be compared to. I never said the Switch sold poorly (overall, because it didn't do well in the UK), but was trying to explain why someone might think it flopped.
