Nintendo is smart. If they released an updated console, they probably would've been near the end of their rope in the home console business (not the portable). They make consoles that make a profit rather than strategically looking for the widest possible audience with all parties involved and being competitive. This handheld will be a slow burn. Most of the most powerful games will be 900p at best, but the third party games will most likely be 720p. Nintendo wasn't even trying there. At least they are making the effort to court third parties. Nintendo is a very headstrong company so it will take time for them to position themselves to where they need to be. They only do things on their own terms.
