I have a 27" generic Asus monitor, and I have to say, it pretty damn large. There is no way I can sit closer than 1 meter from it, without it bothering my eyes.
OT: good purchase 
I was thinking about buying one as well, but the price for a farily decent new one here is ~600-700 euros and thats a bit to expensive for me to bite :(
