The game that caused people to go out and buy seperate hardware to play mainline Pokemon games is your evidence towards mainline Pokémon possibly going mobile? That makes no sense.

Most Pokemon Go players didn't buy Sun & Moon, much less get a 3DS to do so.

Nintendo is diversifying, and mobile offers a bigger userbase than their own devices can.
