Actually Nintendo put out two consoles similar to competition: Gamecube and Wii U - nobody was interested in them.

The Wii U didn't have a hard drive, 3rd party, an ethernet port, basic online features, a good price point in comparison to the competition based on specs, ect.  Add to the fact the Wii wasn't getting games anymore while the 360 and PS3 were, the launch was bad, Nintendo wasn't putting out games regularly unlike the Wii which got Fire Emblem, Metroid and Zelda in the 1st year.  Wii U was objectively a terrible console in terms of features and consistency of releases, it didn't even get an exclusive Zelda game.  It was nothing like the competition or any Nintendo console before it.  GC was following the decline of nintendo hardware that has happened with all platforms outside of the 7th gen.  It got less 3rd party than the PS2, hell I even think PS2 released as many in house IPs as the GC that gen.  That mini disc stuff wasn't going to beat out PS2.  Anyway, to respond to the Uncharted/Halo comment, I couldn't care less about Uncharted, but I still like the PS4 because it offers lots of non-inhouse releases multiplat or exclusive.  That's why it's selling, the 3rd party games push the hardware.

Umm, what was your point and does it have to do with my comment of Wii U and Gamecube being similar to competition?
