So, in your theory, are we on the same team?  Why am I attacking him?  (I'm not saying it couldn't make sense in your theory, I just want to see if your theory explains this behavior.)

I suspected both of you. Nothing more and nothing less. Because even if the spat between you is legit, it doesn't mean I can't still suspect both of you. Besides 1 of you could be mafia and one of you 3rd party.
