I don't want to pay $50/Year to just play Mario Kart and possibly Splatoon online. Online for two games isn't worth that.

If there's anything good about the fact that you don't get to keep your "free" NES/SNES games it's that you don't need to worry about keeping a subscription going unless you're absolutely going to play online during that time.
