It's not too expensive. It's actually a little cheaper than I expected considering proper tablets usually cost 2-2.5X as much while lower end tablets are on par with the Switch.
Comparing it to a home console is apples and oranges, they're two different types of products. It is why tablets are generally much more expensive than desktop PCs with equivalent power. Switch is a tablet console that can be played like a home console.
