I tend to agree; there's nothing inherently wrong with E-rated games, but since that's pretty much all Nintendo make, their output lacks variety.

That's why Metroid was such an important series, it spiced up an otherwise homogenous first party lineup. Sadly, if they made a Metroid for Switch, I'm willing to bet they'd make it some cartoony BS.

Yeah E-rated games are some of the very best. But there needs balance. I definitely would not have bought Wii U at launch if not for ZombiU. People hated on that game but it was the closest thing to a proper metroid that I could ever realistically hope for. You gained powers, retraversed, was lonely, paid severe penalty for dying, scanned for items, accessed previously locked areas, there's even a scant amount of, well placed, platforming. Items/abilities varied but the concept shared striking similarities. I'm not going to pretend to be hopeful this on switch. But I'll remain discontent until there is.

Yeah E-rated games can be good and all, but playing them exclusively can feel like only eating sweet food, sometimes no matter how good the chocolate pudding is, you crave a nice steak.
