I think it could become a franchise of it's own, but not quite at Splatoons selling level. It very much depends on the game however, while it looks fun it might be a tad bit shallow. Especially if the rooster is small. But we'll have to wait and see.
I imagine it could have been fun to have more than 1v1 battles in arms. Perhaps even 4v4 battles. Not seing that happening though, since regular controls seems to be an option and not the focus.
