Agree, I really doubt Nintendo will go below 720p in handheld mode (sub native resolution) for any their game, and I really doubt they will not use extra power in docked mode.

Yeah, hopefully between now and launch games like Splatoon 2 and Odyssey get a boost to 900p or 1080p when docked, if only because it would be silly to let the dock boost go to waste.
