I think that peoples opinion on Nintendo is going to change fairly soon. I think people are going to be very surprised when they see what Nintendo might be bringing to the table with the Switch. Based on what I've heard and putting 2 and 2 together. We're going to see some major changes with Nintendo's brand image.

Some people will change their opinion if the Switch looks good, but others won't.
There are two possible scenarios: the Switch is underpowered (which is the most likely) or it's too expensive. (Or it's something in between, but then people will complain about both.)

There will denfinitely be some critisism on the games too. People are now saying they want a new Metroid and F-Zero. But if these get announced, other people will say that Nintendo just keeps getting back to their old IPs and isn't innovative anymore.

It's just impossible to get everybody happy.

I agree. I'm so excited to see what software gets announced and I really want a new Metroid Prime.... but I'm not going to get my hopes up on this.  Right now I'm trying to be as open as possible with the software, but I might be disappointed if we don't see Beyond Good & Evil 2 :P I definitely want to see some crazy games! New IP's, old IP's. The Switch is a bit of a reset button in many ways I think. The Wii era is pretty much over.

As for the specs. You're right, there really can only be two scenarios in terms of the base console. But it's possible that there is an alternative you may, or may not have heard of before *nudge nudge* I don't think the system will be too under powered in the eyes of many. I think that what we'll see, and what's on paper might not add up conventionally. Though I could be wrong, let's reflect in a few days?

The Switch is going to be a new concept (mostly) for gaming. It's going to revolutionize a lot of things. I'm curious on how Sony and Microsoft will respond going forward. Consider the idea that Nintendo could be making a Switch? What if Nintendo does a 180? A full Switch around? ;)

If a system could make everyone happy... I don't think there would be more than one hardware maker in the industry. Everyone has different tastes and mindsets. There isn't a single thing that everyone likes, but there's also not a single thing that exists that someone doesn't like either.
