probably would have been better off just making it like a 5$ app that you HAVE to pay for rather than a free app that you pay later on to unlock half the game. The problem is too many people interested in mobile gaming (especially kids) are not going to either be capable or able to buy a 10$ mobile game on their own. Can you imagine a kid asking their parent "hey mom, can you buy this 10$ app?" its probably like an auto no because that seems like a lot when compared to the average phone app (granted that may not be the case in the end with how many in game purchases end up popping up on most mobile apps)

many have it right though. Nintendo's mobile app offerings are simply for advertising for their main console stuff anyway.

If they wanted to kill it in mobile they'd be releasing like the original Mario Bros games on the NES in the APP store (that would do vastly better than Mario Run) but they won't do that because they want to retain their virtual console (only available via their home system)

You can play the first Mario and many other Mario games on phones and PC's at a higher resolution for free.

And NES is very easy to emulate even on weak hardware.
