So now that the Switch specs seem to be leaked, I see one catch phrase everywhere: 3rd parties won't bother porting their games to the Switch! Oh noes!

Yeah, but who cares? Nobody buys a Nintendo console for the 3rd party games. As you all may remember too well, the Wii U had a solid 3rd party line up at launch. What happened is that nobody gave a shit about those games. If you want 3rd party games, buy a different console because there are other places where they can shine, but not here, buddy.

3rd parties would be better off by releasing specific titles that fit the audience and the hardware that Nintendo provides. This strategy is something that Capcom has already stated to be following. Y'all may laugh about Capcom how much you want, but they are right. That's the way to success for 3rd partys.

Who cares?  Have you seen Wii U's sales?  With no 3rd party and no real interesting gimmicks to attract users, the Switch just isn't going to sell just like the Wii U, which ultimately means not only weak 3rd party support but weak Nintendo support and short console life, again.

It isn't really the successor the Wii U (or Wii U only) though. It's a portable game machine, so it's the successor to the 3DS, so it has the 3DS audience base to sell to, and over time I'm sure Nintendo will release versions of the Switch which are more battery efficient (14nm die shrink around 2018 sounds about right).

3DS owners are the main audience base for this thing.
