I think the biggest reason you won't see a lot of ports on Switch is people won't buy core games on it. Not power.
PS3 and 360 are still very capable machines but got cut off because they don't move a lot of software. The Switch is more powerful than those machines and it could handle visually scaled back 8th gen games. For the most part 8th gen games is more polished graphics than the previous gen.
