Don't read anything into this either way. It's the best position for Pachter to put himself in for the next podcast/blog/article/whatever it is he actually does.
If the Switch is a success, he can say he called it.
If things go sour, he can state he was too optimistic in his assumptions about Nintendo, and talk about how he would have done a better job.
