VGC never posted Global charts before MC. US and UK charts updated on Monday, Europe on Tuesday, and then used MC + Famitsu /2 on Wednesday. Global charts were on Friday? I don't remember those.
ANYWAY, VGC has always been as accurate and reliable as it is today, the glory days were simply because they did it on time, not accurately. If you ask me, VGC is better than nothing, and heck the margin errors are not even that big. PS4 is undertracked by 1 million? That's what, less than 5%?
And let's say indeed every system and game is undertracked and/or overtracked... the totals are still pretty reliable. 3DS > PS4 >>> XB1 >>>> PS Vita ~ Wii U. We get a fairly realistic view at how the industry is holding nowadays.
Of course, I don't think anyone should quote VGC as a source for modern systems or games. The site has really good old data, not so much from Gen 7 onward. But hey, I write once every new moon for the site. Maybe I was brainwashed and my word is biased...
