not really no.
Yes thd sales were underwhelming. But when thegeneration ended, there was a lot of love for the system and its games. Melee was an generation favorite of many gamers including those who didnt have a gamecube.
If Nintendo had made a GC 2 instead of the Wii, they could have easily sold 40 millions consoles or even more. The PS3 was so expensive that there was a window for Nintendo to take back the crown.
They went for the casual, which seemed like a great idea, but the biggest mistake is that in the process they just told the gamers to go f*#k themselves. And now with the WiiU, karma got them good, no gamers trust Nintendo, casual moved on, and the brand is at an all time worst.
So maybe the GC wasn t a big success short term, but long term, that strategy would have paid off way more, and a gamecube 3 instead of a WiiU would have sold a LOT more.
But short term, the Wii was a huge better success, but look where this all ended?

Oh, gamecube! The console that was mocked and ignored because looked like a kid's lunchbox. Now that people are more aware of specs and power graphics it's now the most loved nintendo console.
Do you really think that the reason for Wii U failure was solely because of the casual approach and low powerful specs? My god, it's just amazing how people cherrypick and twist things just to move goalposts.
It'll be funny when Switch become a success, how your brain would process this information?

You should learn to have a conversation without being a dick to other people.
You do that, and then you come back and try to talk to me again.
Have a nice day
