Since Nintendo released a New3DS and how it greatly affected it sales....... We can see something along the lines of that on the Switch. 

Im actually expecting a senerio like this. From what I can gleen from what nVidia has said about the SOC they created for the switch it can seemly because expanded upon to make it more power in a revision, so the new switch would be able to have 100% bc with the old while running newer software. Simular to what Nintendo did with the GB-to-GB Color or 3DS-to-N3DS. And if they are able to support the new while prolonging the old it should work.
