no, people are happy because this thing charges your device really fast, user friendly, can be used for external processing power and different inputs like hdmi and vga etc, also, not propietary and you can buy a cheap one or an expensive one.

What she said. People are happy because the Switch charger won't be only for the Switch, and your future phone/tablet/whatever charger will work on the Switch too. Less cables to manage, no need to go buy a new one for the Switch if you lose it, just use one you already have.

Now if Nintendo makes the charger the same way Apple and everybody else is, in which it is essentially an adapter with a USB port that allows the cable to unplug and get power from any PC or device with a USB port, that would be divine.

I agree, I'm just saying people are kinda confusing this in some cases. This isn't Micro USB which is what most phones use today.

It is a very good port technology though, that's why its interesting. It could even theoretically allow for a "supplemental GPU". NOT saying that will happen, just saying that option is actually there for Nintendo in theory because of USB-C.

USB-C is pretty new, cutting edge tech. The applications are far more broad than just "fast charging" (though that is certainly nice).

Another theoretical possibility with USB-C ... you could transfer a full game onto the system memory or SD Card extremely quickly, talking like a 30-64GB game in a matter of minutes. The time hold up would actually be on the internal memory or SD Card side.
