I actually completely disagree here. This is like a book writer, at most, showing you the cover art of their next work, or a chef letting you see the wrapper that will contain his next cheeseburger. Excerpts of books give us an idea of what the book is about. Excerpts of song let us know what the music will sound like and what the song will be about. A taste of a dish lets us know what the food will taste like. Death Stranding, meanwhile, is a game, and we have no idea what the game will play like. Not only have we seen no gameplay, but we don't even know what genre it's in. A teaser of some sort should be giving us a sense of what the major component of the medium will be like. For books, that's the story. For music, it's the sound and lyrics. For food, it's the taste. For games, it's the gameplay.

But even if you isolate the excitement solely to the story, we don't know what the story is about, what the general premesis is, what the major themes will be, or even much about the tone. To go back to the previous example, the average book excerpt that I can read on, say, Amazon, will give me enough information to tell you something about each of those. I don't think anyone can say that about Death Stranding's trailers, with the possible exception of tone, and that's no certainty given Kojima's...reputation for not exactly adhering to tonal consistency.

Each to their own I suppose. people take what they want from trailers, clues, CD's, portfolios etc. there is nothing wrong with being cautious. I learnt that lesson first hand with NMS.
