It's like your favourite writer releasing a glimpse of a new book, a world renowned singer letting us sample a new song, a chef letting you taste his new dish.
There are people that are really good at what they do consistently and for many Hideo Kojima is one of them. I personally never got into MGS much but I loved Snatcher. it was and still remains one of the best games I've ever played due to its story, art style, graphics, music and gameplay.
This looks beautiful, the music is amazing, he has two brilliant actors in it, we know he can create amazing stories and world's and it looks intriguing enough, and given his track record the chances are this will be another amazing Kojima game. people who have loved his work have every reason to be excited.
Obviously that isn't everyone, but still it doesn't mean people can't get excited.
