My second External for my Wii U has now died -edit- Actually all my data just vanished, save data too!

I bought old school. I specifically looked around for the best external for Wii U which meant 7200 rpm and usb 2.0 along with AC powered. It led me to ebay where I bought a 640 GB external. It sounds crazy but it hasn't failed me and I've had it for years.
