What else will you be doing besides gaming? I initially got my PC as a stream box for my consoles. I have an i7 4790k and an R9 390X, and I'm not at all satisfied with what I have, and plan to build a new computer next year, but I know the money can be better spent, when I already have a perfectly good computer as it is... At very least, I will upgrade to a GTX 1080, or if I can get something better around may, opt for that instead.
I'd say go a few steps above what you think you'll need. That way, you wont be feeling like you should have done something different down the road.
Also, when are you planning to build it?
