Huge difference is that 3DS is just a handheld, while Switch is home console also, huge difference in perception of product because lotsa people will buy it for home console side of Switch. Compared to PS4/XB1 with Switch you get 2 in 1 device, real handheld and rela home console, while PS4 and XB1 are just a home consoles. Sony follows XB1 with pricing, I dont think they will follow Switch because they are different products. And you forgetting that New 3DS XL is still selling good at price of $199, so Switch will $249 will have much higher value. |
You're actually trying to convince yourself and others that with the Switch, you're actually getting two devices for the price of one. No, it's one device.
You can try to look at it as a "best of both worlds" scenario, but it can also be seen as a "worst of both worlds" scenario. The specs are too crappy and the support too questionable for serious home gaming. On the other hand, you have to wonder about the handheld side of things as well. It's not really as handy and pocketable as traditional handhelds have been, and battery life is going to be really questionable. A jack of all trades, master of none? Is that going to fly? We'll see.
