Wii had COD games, but not the "real" COD, Wii U got that and that was BLOPS2, a new COD game at that, not one that was 5 years old. Bethesda can say what they want, lets see what their support is if Skyrim doesn't sell well on the Switch. I bought BLOPS2 at Wii U launch to show third party support, but other Nintendo fans bailed on that. People like you and me who actually give a shit about any of this stuff are a very, very small minority. |
Wii actualy had real CoD games just downsampled to Wii hardware, Wii U had CoD BLOPS2 and CoD Ghosts. CoD are yearly releases and they are nothing new for Nintendo platforms because last 3 Nintendo console had them, Skyrim become cult classic and Nintendo platform never really had anything similar.
Offcofurse, but like I wrote, Bethesda is probably most hardcore 3rd party developer on market, and having Bethesda on board is huge win for Switch. And not only that, they sound very exaited about Switch and they never were exatied about any Nintendo console, and this Todd Howard guy is not same guy thats is known for hypeing things just beacuse PR talk.
You totally ignored my point about Skyrim sales that they dont have anuthing with CoD sales on Wii U, here you again: "Skyrim could sell well on Switch, Nintendo fans who love Zelda could play Skyrim, especially because Zelda BotW is coming few months after Skyrim and also has huge open world like Zelda. Also its not only about Nintendo fans, there are people who would love to play Skyrim on go, I already saw some people saying they considering buying Switch because they could play Skyrim on go. From that point of view, Switch can be interesting for 3rd parties, because they can offer their games in portable mode also on Switch and they are aware of fact beacuse they are people who are interesting to play 3rd party games on go also, and on Switch they have game that could play in portable and home mode, PS4/XB1 do not offer that."

Well, Skyrim has the advantage of 1) being a cult classic now, 2) coming to Nintendo for the first time and 3) being similar to BotW, so people interested in one might get the other one. The problem with 3rd parties on Nintendo is they don't make the efford to catter its audience, specially the big western ones. Whether that's profitable or not, that's another thing, but the fact of the matter is that Nintendo's aucdience usually like games and genres that are not that big outside of it, and don't care that much about the biggest trends. The same way FPS sell great on XBox devices but JRPGs struggle, a lot of 3rd parties tried to sell their biggest franchises on Nintendo and failed, when they could have actually tried with other smaller ones and being more succcessful. |
Basicly this, and I will just add 4) some people want to play Skyrim on go.
You really dont know whats Nintendo effort regardless 3rd parties on Switch, but having Bethesda on board for now is huge win for Switch in any case.
