Yes I've played the vita on my tv before with a controller. sounds pretty much like a switch considering it can be used as a proper handheld too. the Switch is basically a successor to this and what a Vita 2 would be.

Explain how exactly you played Vita games on TV?
It doesn't sound at all like Switch, Switch is build with purpose to be used like real home console and handheld, it operates like that and has hardware for that purpose out of box, it's marketed for home use and for use on go, that's why Switch is a true hybrid, you cant say that for Vita that is just a handheld.
