Well I don't think anything will come close to the PS2. Just so many games, so many new IPs, so many risks taken by devs and publishers.
I do like this gen overall, and think it could be better than PS3 at least, mainly thanks to a bit of a resurgence in Japanese franchises like Dragon Quest, Persona and hopefully a return to form for Final Fantasy.
I do wonder sometimes, perhaps not with you exactly, but if a lot has to do with us simply getting older and being less easily impressed
