It was basically both Obama's and Trump's campaign SLOGANS, yes.  If you equate that with the entire campaign, then I don't think there is anything more to discuss.  Obama did have actual policy proposals, you know.  So did Trump. 

And yes, I suppose that telling people they should differentiate between "different" and "better" is actually arguing semantics.  But what do you think my core message was? 

Except "better" is a subjective term. To use it objectively is to push your views on others. That in combination with the thought of "it's bad to vote for change unless I vote for change" makes your argument a big mess of double standards.
