XBox One is trending towards 40 million LTD, if you could involve Nintendo I think that would bump to 60-70 million. 10 million more from Japan right off the hop where MS has basically 0. An additional 10-20 million from EU/Americas.

The combined effect of both Nintendo and MS libraries and full third party support would in general create an overall more appealling singular platform as a whole anyway which would siphon off some Playstation users too. Super Mario + Halo + Zelda + Minecraft x Nintendo + Gears + Smash Brothers + Mario Kart + Forza + Metroid and all third party multiplats is a platform even Sony would have some problems matching up with, they'd have Uncharted + uh ... Gran Turismo + the same multiplatform games.

So now Nintendo has become a third party publisher for Microsoft? How is Switch supposed to sell 50-60m units when Nintendo is going to be busy putting their best games on Xbox?

They'd be partners, they would get a stake in the XBox brand (say distribution rights in EU and Japan/Asia markets, makes sense since MS isn't doing great there anyway).

Might as well keep the XBox brand because it's a reasonably strong, well known brand in the West.

Switch would still be a portable and still would have Pokemon and Nintendo could also keep certain strategic titles on the Switch or Switch first. How did Nintendo sell handhelds and consoles for like 25 years? You can't put an XBox Scorpio into your coat pocket and play it on the train.
