It is true that some things like amiibo festival and federation force were cheap, but people always forget Nintendo gets some backlash every time they try another style in graphics, gameplay, genre or type of game, etc. Wind Waker got backlash because since everyone felt soo mature and adult because of the soo dark mature adult games, everyone wanted a "mature", "adult", "dark", "gritty", Zelda, more so because they showed a technical demo that even tough in comparison to some games looked like shit, people though they were getting screwed by Nintendo and Wind Waker was kind of ridiculed and overlooked.

People shited over Paper Mario for not having a thing to do with Super Mario RPG and because of his cartoony visuals then Super Star Saga games because they weren't Paper Mario games, Metroid Prime got backlash at first because it wasn't a 2D platformer like super, Star fox Adventures got it because it was a mixture of star fox characters and Rare Dinosaur Planet, Metroid Prime was a classic and SF adventures was a good or decent game, and by the time of PM: TYD people were still talking about a sequel to super mario RPG, and fans wanted another super metroid and another SF 64. Resident Evil 4 was a masterpiece but first it was on Game Cube and then everyone was blinded by nostalgia of some of the very first good mainstream zombie games in spite of fixed camera angles, inflexible tank controls, bad voice acting etc.

While i agree that Nintendo should strive at times for a little more power or parity in their consoles, the droughts in the line up are justified to some extent because games are getting more expensive and complex to make, i certainly don't miss some multiplatform games on Nintendo consoles like FIFA, Madden, COD because they are also on PC and the other consoles(and are pretty much the same experience every year), and also because a lot of the multiplatform games are hyped beyond belief and end up being generic as heck, like watch dogs, the division, etc, arrive broken like assassin's creed, and also i have been left waiting like forever on other consoles like the technical demo of FFVII hinted at the remaster and FF versus XIII were suposed to come in some form on PS3 and never came, the Last Guardian was like in what 2010?, KH3 never came out in PS3 era, and today i still ain't seeing some of those games coming out, yet some people get stressed because microsoft and nintendo doesn't announce games more often, gears of war 4 and other great XB1 games get overlooked because of the so much more powerful PS4 that brags about the vaporware rime, the not that good as it was supposed to be the order, or the one man's lie, SF V, etc., plus a lot more games that were announced since PS3 era and a lot more that i haven't even mentioned like GT sport.

With respect to listening to the fans i believe companies should deliver great games, and that the fans aren't always right by wanting the same experiences over and over again, like COD infinite warfare it may not be the best game ever, but i don't think it looks like the worst game ever made, if the fans just wanted rehashes of modern warfare, then what good would that do to the industry?.
